Adani Total Gas (ATGL) Enters EV Sector, Launches First EV Charging Station

The joint venture of Adani Group and French energy major TotalEnergies SE, Adani Total Gas has forayed into the electric mobility infrastructure segment by launching the electric vehicle charging station at its CNG station in Maninagar, Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Even their stock had surged 8% in the early session on 28 March 2022.


ATGL is presently India’s largest private CNG and piped cooking gas distributor as the company sells CNG to automobiles and piped natural gas to households in as many as 19 geographical areas. The company says that the charging station will enable a brief turnaround time for EV owners with the best-in-class fast charging technology and convenient use of digital platforms.


Suresh P Manglani, CEO of ATGL, said, “The commencement of EV business with setting up the first charging station in Ahmedabad is yet another milestone for Adani Total Gas to provide choice of newer green fuel to the larger consumer base in India while timely ceasing an emerging business opportunity aligned to our vision to offer sustainable fuelling solutions on across all major cities and towns in India.”


The company informed that it has the strategic resources to undertake electric mobility initiatives as it will be extending the network of charging stations to about 1,500. Based on demand generation and momentum building of the ecosystem of electric vehicles in India, the company plans to go beyond 1,500 charging stations. “The global experience of TotalEnergies SE in the EV infrastructure space is another factor that adds competitive edge to ATGL’s vision as it eyes market leadership in the space,” said ATGL.
