Here Are Some EV SUVs To Hit Indian Market By 2022

We sifted through the data to select the best electric SUVs that are going to hit the market by 2022-

Mahindra eKUV100

₹ 8.25 Lakh

The Mahindra KUV100 mini SUV-based EV gets a 15.9kWh liquid-cooled battery which is good for a claimed range of 147km. New features include connected car tech which enables you to set the temperature of the air conditioning before you get into the car. This is the most affordable EVs on sale in India and it challenges the Mahindra eVerito and Tata Tigor EV sales.

Tata Sierra

₹ 14.00 Lakh

The Tata Sierra EV is likely to emphasize a further developed version of the Ziptron EV powertrain for a range of around 400km on a single charge. It comes with LED headlamps and tail lamps, black cladding along its bottom edge, and dual-tone alloy wheels. The Sierra EV concept carries forward Tata’s IMPACT 2.0 design language and is based on the ALFA-ARC platform. The production-spec model may arrive with petrol and diesel iterations before the EV.

Mahindra XUV300 Electric

₹ 18.00 Lakh

At the Auto Expo 2020, Mahindra pulled off a surprise by showcasing an all-electric version of its popular subcompact SUV, the XUV300. However, the recent developments suggest that the said electric SUV will carry the moniker of XUV400. It is powered by a 40kWh battery pack that’s proficient in delivering a high range above 300km on a single charge. Powered by a near-130hp electric motor driving the front wheels, this configuration is just the high-performance version of the powertrain.

MG ZS EV 2022

₹ 22.00 Lakh

The 2021 MG ZS EV has been introduced in India with a price tag of Rs 21 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated model is available in two variants, Excite and Exclusive, priced at Rs 21 lakh and Rs 24.18 lakh, respectively. Compared to the outgoing model, the 2021 MG ZS EV acquires an updated iSmart system with Hinglish voice commands. This technology enables the vehicle to respond to over 35 Hinglish voice commands that operate various car functions. The ground clearance of the ZS EV has been increased by 16mm, and now stands at 177mm. The model also rides on new 215/55 R17 tyres.

Volvo XC40 Recharge

₹ 60.00 Lakh

Propelling the Volvo XC40 Recharge will be a 78kWh battery pack that will power two electric motors, producing a combined power output of 402bhp and 660Nm of torque. The model is claimed to deliver a range of 418kms on a full charge as per the WLTP cycle. The SUV can sprint from 0-100kmph in 4.9 seconds, all the way up to a top speed of 180kmph. Compared to the ICE-powered XC40, the Recharge variant features a blanked-out front grille finished in the body colour, and sporting the Volvo logo. The charging point remains in the same position, behind the fuel filler lid. A few notable features of the model include LED headlamps, vertically-positioned LED taillights, a black cladding on the front and rear bumpers, and a dual-tone paint job.

Mercedes-Benz EQA

₹ 60.00 Lakh

The dual electric motor system gives the EQA 300 its all-wheel-drive setup, with a motor on each axle. The combined output is 225bhp and 390Nm of torque, resulting in a 0-60mph time of 7.7 seconds and a top speed of 99mph – this is low but typical of EVs. The 66.5kWh battery provides up to 264 miles of range. Fast charging is possible at speeds of up to 100kW, with a 10-80 per cent charge taking around 30 minutes.

Ford Mustang Mach-E

₹ 70.00 Lakh

The new Mustang Mach-E is a high-rise, four-door crossover-ish hatchback, and it comes with the choice of either one motor or two; a bigger drive battery or a slightly smaller, lighter one; and with up to 610km of WLTP-certified range (which, not so coincidentally, is as much as any current Tesla will give you, and more than you’ll get from any electric Polestar, Jaguar, Mercedes- Benz or Audi). The Mustang Mach-E is relatively light and well-packaged. It has been built on underpinnings modified from those of the Focus and Kuga that Ford now calls its GE2 platform, and has a mixed-metal and composite frame. An entry-level, one-motor, rear-driven version weighs less than 1,900kg and has almost as much usable battery capacity as a Polestar.

BMW iX

₹ 1.00 Crore

The next-generation BMW 5 Series and X1 are set to be offered with all-electric powertrains, alongside a line-up of petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid engine options. The move is part of BMW's goal to introduce 25 electrified models by 2023. It can be expected to use a variant of the single-motor powertrain featured in the newly revealed iX3, which sends 286hp to the rear wheels and offers a WLTP range of 458.6km. The 5 Series and X1 will join the next-generation 7 Series flagship luxury sedan in receiving full-electric versions. By the time they arrive, BMW will also have launched the iNext electric SUV, a smaller iX3 electric SUV and the i4 electric sedan.
