Hero MotoCorp Launches Brand ‘Vida’ & Here Is All You Need To Know About It

Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, unveiled its sub-brand called Vida for its emerging mobility solutions that will house all its electric mobility initiatives. The company has filed a patent for several names such as Vida, Vida MotoCorp, Vida EV, Vida Electric, Vida Scooters, and even Vida Motorcycles.

The new electric scooter was showcased in an un-camouflaged format and sported a white colour scheme. It was seen with 12-inch front and 10 inches rear black alloy wheels and a long split seat. The pillion seat is detachable which allows the upcoming scooter to be used for last-mile deliveries. It also sports a flyscreen and curved body works while it gets sporty accents on its handlebar, side, and rear fender and floorboard. It will be unveiled on 1st July 2022 with deliveries to initiate from later this year.

The new Hero e-scooter will be produced at the Hero MotoCorp Green manufacturing plant in Chittoor, India. Vida will now be competing with Hero Electric, India’s largest electric two-wheeler company which sold over 50,000 EVs last year, and other well-established players like TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak, and newcomers like Ola S1, Simple One, and Ather 450X in its segment. It is expected to be priced competitively to take on its rivals and could be priced under ₹ 1 lakh.

Diving into the numbers, Hero Motocorp leads the two-wheeler segment by selling 3,11,907 units of its motorcycles and scooters. Though this number is highly respectable, the Indian two-wheeler giant has witnessed an 11 percent YoY drop in sales, compares to last year's 3,52,532 unit sales during the same time.

Ahead of the launch of its first electric vehicle (EV), Vida has rolled out a US$100 Million Global Sustainability Fund. Introducing Vida in Dubai on March 3, 2022, Pawan Munjal, chairman, and CEO of Hero MotoCorp announced that the Global Sustainability Fund spearheaded by the BML Munjal University and Hero MotoCorp, will strive to establish global partnerships, and offer impetus to over 10,000 entrepreneurs on ESG solutions that will have a positive impact on the planet.
