Hyundai Motor India To Invest ₹ 4,000 cr in EVs By 2028, Lines-Up 6 EV Models

South Korea's Hyundai Motor Co has announced its aspirational EV plans stating that the company plans to invest ₹ 40 billion ($530 million) to launch six electric vehicles in India by 2028, making a clean driving push in a country with some of the world`s most polluted cities. Hyundai, India's second largest carmaker, will launch affordable and premium electric models including sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and sedans, starting with its second electric vehicle (EV) in 2022, said Tarun Garg, director sales and marketing for Hyundai Motor India. The Hyundai Ioniq 5, which is an all-electric crossover, is expected to be launched in the Q2 of 2022. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is based on the E-GMP, which also underpins the Kia EV6, and it is safe to assume that Kia’s version of the EV will make its debut by the end of the next year as well.
