Kia EV6 Is Launched & Here Are All The Details

The Kia EV6 will come to India through CBU (Completely Built Unit) route and the Korean carmaker will initially bring the first batch of 100 units of the electric crossover. It is based on Hyundai’s dedicated Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) as Hyundai Ioniq 5. The Kia EV6 has been launched in India at a starting price of  59.95 lakh, ex-showroom. It is offered in 2 variants – GT RWD and AWD versions. The top-spec model is priced at  64.96 lakh, ex-showroom. The company will begin deliveries for the EV6 from September 2022. It will be available across 12 cities and 15 dealerships across India.

Kia EV6 is likely to be offered in two variants, namely GT and GT-Line AWD. One of the most significant differences between the two is that the GT version has a maximum output of 229 hp and 350 Nm torque, while GT-Line AWD is the more powerful version, capable of a maximum output of 347 hp and 605 Nm torque. The Kia EV6 gets an all-black interior with black suede seat and vegan leather bolsters. It will be available in India with a choice of five exterior colours – Runway Red, Aurora Black Pearl, Yacht Blue, Moonscape and Snow White Pear.

As per Money Control, Kia EV6 will be offered with ultra-fast charging options and claims to add upto 100kms in just 4.5 minutes, using a fast charger. 15 Kia dealerships will be equipped with 150kW fast chargers that can juice up the EV6 from 10% to 80% in around 40 minutes. Using a 350 kW fast charger, it takes 18 minutes to charge the battery from 10% to 80%, whereas a 50kW charger takes 73 minutes to do the same. It can also be a power source for appliances, tools and devices like a computer, tv etc.

Kia has received 355 bookings for the EV6 so far, which is more than what the carmaker had intended to sell in India. The carmaker has set up 150kW chargers in 15 EV-specific dealerships in 12 cities.
