OPPO Wants To Launch Electric Vehicles In India

Indian Electric Vehicle market is in its impressive nascent period. As Tesla prepares to penetrate the EV market in India, another American carmaker Ford backed out but the Chinese are ready to enter the scene. OPPO will join the likes of Xiaomi, Huawei and Apple, who also have plans to enter the electric vehicle space.

The Chinese smartphone makers, OPPO under BBK group are keen on investing in the EV segment. OPPO is the world's largest smartphone manufacturer, which also owns other brands such as OnePlus, Vivo and Realme. It has been speculated that not one but three of its subsidiaries have filed for trademarks for electric bikes, cars, and more. The 91Mobile report cites a known tipster who states that “OPPO’s plans for electric vehicles for India are indeed real” and that the “launch is slated between 2023-end and early 2024.”

OPPO has already entered segments such as home entertainment, computing, and consumer durables. The smart electric vehicles segment seems like a higher goal for the company to complete its portfolio of all things electric.
