A total of 8.7 lakh EVs are registered across states and out of all the EVs registered in the country, UP and Delhi host around 44 percent. Delhi hosts the second-highest number of registered EVs, following behind Uttar Pradesh according to a report by the road transport and highways ministry.
The Department of Heavy Industries changed the 2019 Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric vehicles (FAME-II) scheme to offer 50 percent higher incentives on two-wheeler EVs. The latest incentives are as follows:
For two-wheelers: ₹ 15,000 per kWh of battery capacity, up to 40 percent of the vehicle cost.
For four-wheelers: ₹ 10,000 per kWh of battery capacity, up to Rs 1.5 lakh.
Under Phase-II of the FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) India scheme, the union government-supported about 1.65 lakhs Electric Vehicles (EV) by way of demand incentive amounting to about ₹ 564 crore.
